FIDC is delighted to welcome Tom Baker as the new Strategic Projects Manager.
Tom brings a deep connection to the Falkland Islands and a wealth of international experience to the team. Originally from Stanley, Tom has long aspired to return to the Falklands to continue the legacy of his father, Richard Baker, who served as Assistant General Manager and later General Manager of FIDC. Joining the organization is an opportunity to give back to the community that has played such a significant role in his life.
With over nine years of cross-industry experience spanning Cornwall, London, Germany, and New York, Tom has cultivated expertise in areas ranging from global marketing to start-up consulting. His career highlights include managing global campaigns for adidas TERREX in Germany, repositioning the luxury heritage brand Globe-Trotter in London, and launching an online marketplace supporting start-ups from developing countries. He has also worked with businesses in the outdoor, travel, and hospitality sectors, lending his expertise to help them scale and succeed.
At FIDC, Tom is eager to develop projects and investment products that benefit not only the subscribers of the Portfolio Participation Program (PPP) but also the wider Falkland Islands community. His passion for fostering growth and innovation aligns perfectly with FIDC’s mission.
Outside of work, Tom enjoys an active lifestyle, often found playing rugby, sailing, or surfing. He also loves exploring the Islands with his camera, capturing the beauty of the landscapes and wildlife. Committed to building on the work of his predecessor, Stacy Bragger, Tom is determined to contribute to the continued success and development of the Falklands.
Zachary Franklin, Managing Director of FIDC, says: “We’re excited to have Tom join the team, bringing a unique perspective and skill set to the role, and we look forward to his contribution to the future of FIDC and the community it serves.”
