With publication in Marina World Magazine, spotlight now turns to pending delivery of feasibility study on a marina for the Falkland Islands.
A marina feasibility study project and the potential development in Stanley Harbour from the Falkland Islands Development Corporation (FIDC) received a five-page article in the latest edition of international business publication Marina World Magazine, a quarterly magazine dedicated to the global marina and waterfront industry.
The article covers the history of interest in developing the waterfront area around Stanley, where previous iterations and discussions included the idea of a marina, the growing demand for marina services in the region from global associative bodies such as the International Association for Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO), and FIDC’s contracting of U.K.-based maritime civil, structural, architectural, and environmental engineering services company Arch Henderson (a company of Haskoning) at the end of 2025 calendar year to assess the feasibility of a marina in Stanley Harbour.
“FIDC appreciates the opportunity to highlight the marina feasibility study project to an international audience, and in doing so, elevate the profile of the Falkland Islands,” said Zachary Franklin, managing director for FIDC. “Additionally, FIDC appreciates Arch Henderson elaborating on the key aspects they are focusing on for this first step in producing a feasibility study.”
It is anticipated that Arch Henderson will deliver its feasibility study report by September 2026, at which point FIDC will provide to all relevant stakeholders in the Falkland Islands prior to making a version of the report available publicly.
