“The Building Blocks for Business” Workshop

“The Building Blocks for Business”, a free workshop designed to support both aspiring entrepreneurs and experienced business owners, was recently hosted by FIDC to provide practical tools, essential skills and knowledge.

Thirty participants heard from Éadaoin O’Brien at the Harbourlights Cinema. Drawing on her wealth of academic knowledge and experience, Éadaoin introduced attendees to key entrepreneurial frameworks; Business Model Canvas, Lean Canvas and Enterprise Idea Planner. Facilitating constructive conversations and feedback, the session encouraged collaborative learning and clarity in business planning.

Business Development Officer, James Marsh, and Managing Director, Zachary Franklin, discussed a range of resources available within FIDC, including tailored funding packages, business planning guidance, and advice designed to support local enterprises at every stage of development.

The team were pleased to welcome the Year 10 Enterprise Class to the Workshop. The students were attentive and enthusiastically took to the exercise, a credit to their learning. The students say, “We thank James Marsh, Eadaoin O’Brien, and the FIDC for their invaluable time and insightful advice on financial planning and business models. Your guidance has left a lasting impression on our entrepreneurial journey.”

James Marsh says, “FIDC is proud to continue fostering the entrepreneurial spirit across the Islands and looks forward to supporting the next generation of business leaders.”
