FIDC is delighted to welcome James Marsh to the team as Business Development Officer.
Originally from West Falkland, James brings a deep connection to the Islands and a wealth of experience from his time working abroad. With a great understanding of the hard work, creativity, and innovation that Islanders consistently demonstrate to make the most of their unique circumstances, he recognises how vital it is for Islanders to be provided with opportunities and support for growth. James has always been drawn to the mission of FIDC, which he believes plays a crucial role in supporting both the Islands and the Islanders, and he is excited about the chance to contribute to this process and looks forward to meeting people face to face, engaging with them, and exploring their ideas.
James brings with him ten years of experience from his work at the Falkland Islands Government Office (FIGO) in London, which has equipped him with invaluable skills for his role at FIDC. His past opportunities included representing the Falkland Islands Government at various political conferences and trade fairs, including attending a United Nations C-24 conference in New York as part of an Islander delegation.
Outside of work, James and his family are avid outdoor enthusiasts, spending their weekends hiking the hills and ridges around Stanley. With a special fondness for Fox Bay, which he affectionately calls “the jewel in the crown of the Islands” (with a bit of bias, as he admits), James and his three children have enjoyed exploring Gypsy Cove and Yorke Bay since their return to the Islands.
